Bitus Fire Retardant is an advanced fire-resistant timber that provides effective protection against ignition and fire spread. During the treatment process, the wood is impregnated with Burnblock® flame-retardant technology, which penetrates deeply into the material, ensuring long-lasting fire resistance while preserving the natural appearance and durability of wood.
This treatment makes Bitus Fire Retardant a reliable and sustainable solution for facades, walls, ceilings, decking, and other construction projects where enhanced safety and certified fire protection are required.
Highest standards.
Bitus Fire Retardant wood achieves the highest fire resistance classification B-s1, d0, according to the EN 13501-1 standard. This classification means the material significantly reduces the burning rate and does not produce hazardous smoke, which is crucial for safety in both public and private buildings.
In addition to its high fire resistance, Bitus Fire Retardant is also an environmentally friendly material that does not contain harmful chemicals and fully complies with EU REACH regulations. It is non-toxic and safe for both people and the environment.
Technology.
Bitus Fire Retardant timber undergoes a vacuum impregnation process, where Burnblock® flame-retardant solution deeply penetrates the wood structure, ensuring long-term protection against fire throughout the entire lifespan of the material.
In the event of a fire, the treated wood forms a protective carbon layer that slows down heat transfer and prevents flames from spreading further. This unique feature makes Bitus Fire Retardant one of the safest wood solutions for construction.
How does it work?
Bitus Fire Retardant timber reactively reduces burning speed and prevents flames from spreading in case of fire.
When exposed to fire, the flame retardant reacts with combustible gases, blocking oxygen access and forming a charred protective layer on the wood surface. This barrier slows heat transfer and prevents further ignition. Since fire cannot spread without oxygen, flames are effectively stopped, providing the highest level of fire resistance.
An illustration comparing Bitus Fire Retardant-treated wood and untreated wood demonstrates the difference in fire protection.
